As my sensory status shifted and reading became uncomfortable, I had to migrate to audiobooks for most things. I didn't grow up with the growly-voiced blokes reading these stories to me, I read them myself. Prefatory note: I came to audiobooks only a few years ago, and I'm in my 50s. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.ĥ stars has come to mean "did not disappoint", but it leaves nowhere to go for "vaulted so far past my best hopes that my delight in this already-magnificent work has been multiplied." I would like to give it 7 stars, or 10. The first book in the Discworld series – The Colour of Magic – was published in 1983. Wyrd Sisters is the second book in the Witches series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order. Particularly when the blood on your hands just won't wash off. But even she finds that meddling in royal politics is a lot more complicated than certain playwrights would have you believe.
